Wednesday March 11th

Katie and I are going to see the kids in Mexico this afternoon.

We are supposed to go golfing Thursday morning with Al and Bonnie, so Katie and I want to hit some golf balls. Katie hasn't played since last year here. We went to the driving range at Tierra Del Sol right next store but it is closed because it is too wet for them to retrieve the balls.

We found another place that is listed all over google, turns out though it has been closed since last year. We phoned Palmview a course we have played before and their range is open.

Off we went and it was fun. Katie got in her usual groove after awhile and was pounding them as she is able to do. I was hitting them well also, but Katie puts me to shame.

We thought we had lots of time, because Pharr is on daylight savings, but according to the internet Nuevo Progreso is not. So we thought we had plenty of time to meet Erika at 1PM. Turns out the internet in this regard is wrong and they are on Daylight Savings as well. If one checks the current time in Nuevo Progreso it is wrong. As a result we were actually late, and Erika was worried that something happened to us. She had her friend Lenny who works at the Pharmacy go looking for us. What a shame we could easily have been on time.

Livario and Eric came and picked us up, and we went to get Karelly from school but we were actually too early.

Katie made a very big pot of spaghetti and chicken meat balls, and we had a couple of loaves of garlic bread and some coleslaw.

Katie heated it up on the stove, but found out that Erika's oven doesn't work, so she had to cut up the bread and go it in a frying pan grill style.

When Karelly and Livy were picked up and home from school, we ate. Lenny came over as well. It was delicious! and everyone enjoyed it. Lots left over, so we just left everything there.

We had a lot of fun with the kids...I have a new best friend it seems. Eric who didn't really want much to do with us last year, has taken a liking to me. He gets my attention by calling out "Jim" funny part is he calls Katie that as well. Now he sits on my knee, and get my attention when he thinks we are paying too much attention to the girls.

Here is Livy and Eric teaching me Spanish words for various pictures, and they make sure that I pronounce them correctly!

Livy is quite the little performer, she loves to sing and dance

Katie spent some time with Karelly on the English grammar book we got her. Karelly surprised us being very good at reading sentences and her pronunciation. Katie worked with her on tenses, and singular vs plural etc. She catches on so fast!

Then it was time for the fun to stop, so Livario and the kids drove us to the bridge. The two girls walked us to the turnstile, and all was good, as they knew that we would be back on Saturday and they can always contact us by Skype, Facebook, or a new video program I found called VSee which is the same quality as Skype but uses less data.

Then it was the walk to the car, back home, and relax.

And so ends another great day in the Valley!

more later...

About Us

My photo
Every Year for the past few years, Katie and I journey to Pharr, Texas, where we have a mobile home in Paradise Park. We also sponsor three girls in Nuevo Progeso, Mexico, so they can go to school. We travel to Mexico to see the kids, with Sr. Maureen Crosby who runs the program and our friends Ken and Vickey, who are Sr. Maureen's constant helpers. Starting last year we also go by ourselves several times
